Experience the bold new energy of contemporary New Zealand art on this immersive 60-minute guided tour of Toi Art, home of New Zealand's National Art Collection.

Journey through carefully selected highlights from galleries showcasing the diversity and innovation of contemporary art in Aotearoa New Zealand. From monumental sculptures and moving images to embroidery, ceramics, and even a playable video game, discover how contemporary artists are shaping and reflecting our nation's evolving story.

Our hosts will guide you through key works across Levels 4 and 5, connecting you with powerful pieces created since 1960 that span cultures, mediums, and perspectives. Explore how Māori, Pacific, Asian-New Zealand, and international artists featured in our galleries are expanding conversations about identity, belonging, and representation.

With a strong focus on women artists and contemporary voices, these exhibitions bring fresh perspectives to New Zealand's creative landscape. Learn about groundbreaking new acquisitions, collaborative works, and the stories behind pieces making their Te Papa debut.

Perfect for art enthusiasts and curious minds alike – this tour reveals how contemporary art continues to challenge, inspire, and unite us in modern Aotearoa.
