Only international visitors aged 16 and over need to buy a museum entry ticket
International visitors under age 16 are free, but need a ticket. Tickets are valid for 48 hours from the printed date.
New Zealanders are free – no ticket needed. This includes New Zealand citizens and people with visas to study, work, or live in New Zealand.

Show your ticket at the Tickets desk
At Te Papa, please have your ticket ready, either printed or on your device. On Level 2, go to the 'Prepaid tickets' queue at the Tickets desk and show your ticket to a Host. Then you’re ready to enjoy the museum!
Te Papa is an accessible museum
Visitors using wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and other mobility vehicles can access most of Te Papa. Wheelchairs and a mobility scooter are available for free. Certified assistance dogs are welcome.
